Receiver The Francotte improved design rifles lack the cocking indicator lever on the right side (which would be familiar to those who have seen the film "Zulu.") The stock where it fits into the receiver is heavily damaged and loose. I'm not sure how it attaches and whether tightening some sort of screw (below the butt plate, perhaps) would firm that up. At a minimum I would need to repair the damaged wood so that it fits more snugly into the receiver. My general intention is that I would repair it in some way, perhaps with epoxy or resin, while leaving the visible damage as unmodified as possible. pitch black . 1. Any of various natural bitumen, such as mineral pitch or asphalt. 3. A resin derived from the sap of various coniferous trees, as the pines. Pitch black.. means very dark. The cracks in the asphalt were repaired with pitch which when seen in the low light of late afternoon in Fall take on a really beautiful pattern and sheen.
